Today’s story of kindness comes from Reddit user blutmilch:

“I was in beauty school. Got a call from my mom while I was in class that my uncle, who was in the hospital, wasn’t doing well, and it wasn’t looking good. I immediately fell apart. The director (!) of the school had me sit down in his office, and somehow, we ended up crying together. He said, ‘I’m so, so sorry, and you are such a strong person.’ He was crying, too.

I wonder if he was also letting out some grief from something in his life. But there’s something about sharing that grief together, it’s just so...humanizing. We really are in this life together, yknow? Most people live in their own worlds, then something happens when you realize ‘other people are struggling, too.’ And sharing in life’s struggles together that day really did something to my heart.”

So well said. 👏 We can’t take away other people’s pain, but we can sit with them and share it. And sometimes, that makes all the difference.
