Todayā€™s Inspiration šŸŒø

Act of Kindness

Todayā€™s story of kindness was submitted by InspireMore reader Cody Z.:

ā€œLast winter my kids had a couple of days off from school and were going stir-crazy. I took them out for dinner just to get out of the house. My son was 9 at the time and my daughter was 7 and My husband was stuck working late.

My son has autism and is still at the level of a 2-year-old speaking. Now my kids are overall pretty good when we eat out. The diner was packed and we found one booth open. Well my son was struggling to not get loud, which can happen when he is under or overstimulated, it wasnā€™t one of the worst times however, the person behind him kept turning around and looking at him. So I had my daughter switch seats with him in hopes this would help.

I felt bad, I donā€™t know why, I have worked so hard to not feel like I have to apologize for my son but there are just some moments that it stings and hurts because as normal as we try to make things, there are just some things he cannot control.

We get our food and they are both quietly eating. I ask for the check when we are all done, and the server tells us someone took care of our bill. It was someone in the opposite direction of us (not the person staring) but another couple who left before I had a chance to thank them. Sometimes my journey as a mom raising a child who is atypical feels lonely. It wasnā€™t so much the meal as the feeling of being noticed. God bless this couple.ā€
