Today’s story of kindness comes from InspireMore reader Colin K.:

I had an important court appearance regarding guardianship for my son with special needs. So as not to be late, I left home in plenty of time to make the 45-minute trip. However, I neglected to look at my gas gauge—and ran out on a highway about halfway to the courthouse.

Scrambling, I called my son’s caregiver and diverted her from the courthouse to meet me at the next exit ramp two miles away. Timing was very tight. While I was speed walking to the exit, a state trooper pulled over to check on me. I explained my problem and the trooper said, “Get in. Call your son’s caregiver and have her meet us at the courthouse.” He then drove me the remaining 15 miles and got me to the hearing early.
